Use StoreCensus in Claude, ChatGPT & Cursor (MCP)
Connect your AI assistant to StoreCensus with our MCP server and search stores, apps and contacts by asking.
StoreCensus has an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can use your StoreCensus account directly. Ask in plain English, for example "Find 20 US beauty stores on Shopify Plus that use Klaviyo", and the assistant runs the search for you.
Plan Requirements
The MCP server is included with Professional and above. Free, Starter and trial accounts can't connect.
Connecting
- In your assistant, add a custom connector or remote MCP server:
- Claude (claude.ai or Claude Desktop): Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector.
- ChatGPT: add a custom connector in Settings > Connectors (on ChatGPT plans that support custom connectors).
- Cursor, VS Code and others: add a remote MCP server.
- Use the URL
https://www.storecensus.com/api/mcp. - The assistant opens a StoreCensus page. Sign in if you need to, then click Allow.
That's it. The connection stays signed in, so you won't be asked again unless you remove it.
Claude Code and other tools that let you set headers can use an API key instead:
claude mcp add --transport http storecensus https://www.storecensus.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"What the Assistant Can Do
- Build lead lists by country, vertical, revenue, Shopify plan, theme, payments and more.
- Target by tech stack: stores that use an app or don't (e.g. Klaviyo but not Gorgias), technologies like the Meta Pixel, or stores on a free Shopify theme.
- Catch switching moments: stores that recently removed or installed an app, recently moved to Shopify Plus, or recently changed their theme.
- Find lookalikes of your best clients, and size a market before pulling any stores.
- Read a store's full profile: apps, technologies, theme, revenue and traffic estimates, social links.
- Unlock contacts: emails and phone numbers, using your credits exactly as in the app (1 credit per new store with contacts).
- Research Shopify apps: top, growing and declining apps by category, install counts now and 30/90/365 days ago, uninstalls, current pricing.
- Check your account: plan, credits and today's usage.
Limits
Store records returned to the assistant count toward a daily allowance that resets at 00:00 UTC:
| Plan | Store records per day |
|---|---|
| Professional | 2,000 |
| Growth | 10,000 |
| Enterprise | 20,000 |
Each search returns up to 25 stores. For bulk data, use exports or the API.
Disconnecting
Each connection shows on your API keys page with the assistant's name, for example "Claude (MCP sign-in 2026-11-03 ab12)". Delete it there to disconnect that assistant right away.
